North London side Tottenham have crashed out of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) following their 2-1 loss to hosts AS Monaco in their Matchday 5 Group E clash.
After a goalless first half which saw Colombian striker Radamel Falcao miss a penalty, French right-back Djibril Sidibe gave the home side the lead but were soon pegged back after Harry Kane levelled from the penalty following Kamil Gilk's foul on Dele Alli. Mauricio Pocchettino's men were however not level for long as Thomas Lemar finished off a flowing Monaco move and that was how it stayed for the remainder of the game.
The loss means Tottenham can longer qualify for the knockout stages of the competition meaning leaders AS Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen are through from their group.
In the pick of the other games, Borussia Dortmund defeated Legia Warsaw 8-4 as both sides set a new UEFA Champions League (UCL) record for the number of goals scored (12).
